Creative Curriculum

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool empowers children to be confident, creative, and caring learners through play-based, hands-on investigations—a research-based approach that incorporates language, literacy, and mathematics throughout the day.

Whole Child Approach

Happy Feet is also dedicated to providing a safety net for the most critical years of development in children. We send home developmental screenings upon enrollment and every six months throughout the remainder of your time at Happy Feet. We strongly believe that early detection and intervention provides the strongest outcomes for the remainder of a child’s life! These screenings give us great information for areas to supplement and provide extra support for individual children, and in some scenarios gives us indication and evidence to help families advocate for their child with their primary care provider. Requesting the parent/guardian complete these forms also deepens the opportunity for partnership between the Happy Feet team and each child’s family.

ASQ developmental screenings

We utilize an integrative whole child approach to learning. Teaching strategies provides multiple resources to support this philosophy. At Happy Feet we use Creative Curriculum for our weekly lesson planning, TS Gold Educational Assessments for us to collect observations, and provide regular progress reports for families. Additionally, our preschool rooms provide a heavy focus on social emotional skills and utilize Al’s Pals curriculum for extra supplementation and focus on kindergarten readiness.

Our Program

Programs

The Happy Feet family always strives to provide the very best care that we can on a daily basis. To provide that care, we employ high quality staff to ensure both your child’s safety as well as their education and development.

Infant

Our infant program focuses on the earliest stages of development. We emphasize attachment, safety, and infant lead needs. Strategies like infant-lead feeding and sleeping schedules are employed to make our infant classroom feel as much like home as possible. We strive to create a welcoming environment that encourages infants to develop motor, language, and social skills. This provides a great foundation for continued development throughout their early childhood adventure at Happy Feet Academy.

Toddler

We have designed our toddler program in a way to facilitate new development in personality, expression, and mobility. This age group is very foundational time when children grow out of infant hood and into a developmental season where they are learning independence. Our teachers encourage toddlers to achieve tasks that they can do with a little cheer leading and provide nurturing attentiveness to tasks that toddlers are not able to do independently. We also incorporate sign language into lessons so children who are still developing language skills can communicate in other effective ways!

Preschool

From ages 2.5-kinder entry, we prioritize kindergarten readiness and focus on developing the essential skills that will empower children to succeed academically and socially. We believe that a love for learning is best cultivated through hands-on experiences and meaningful interactions. HFA creates a supportive and inclusive classroom where children are encouraged to share ideas & collaborate with their peers.

Preschool

Our preschool program focuses heavily on school readiness and adding more structure to our weekly lesson plans. Our lesson plans include art projects, science projects, math and writing skills. We also work on encouraging social skills and strengthening the child’s decision-making skills in a safe classroom environment.
